Fan Art Friday!

by admin on March 25th, 2011
Posted In: Blog

Morning,

This week’s fantastic fan art is from…

Darrin Stephens creator of the fantastic webcomic ‘Space Slugs’.

‘Space Slugs’ offers a humorous glimpse into the lives of three space slugs spinning out of control on a rogue asteroid.

I really like Darrin’s style and I was delighted when he sent me the fan art. I’m truly amazed how he manages to update twice a week to such a high standard, in colour, and juggle work, wife and 3 boys!

Please DO click on the link above and check out Darrin’s webcomic.

Many thanks,

ROLFE

p.s. I will be doing this every Friday until I run out of Fan Art. So if you feel the urge to send in some fan art, please do!

ROLFE Redux #1 – In a decade, long, long, ago…

by admin on March 23rd, 2011
Posted In: Blog

Originally published, 1998.

Once upon a time, a young cartoonist submitted hundreds and hundreds of cartoons to numerous British publications.

Sometimes he got published and sometimes he didn’t.

Yes, I was that cartoonist!

So, let me introduce you to ROLFE Redux, my new Wednesday weekly blog post.

A casual flick back through my own personal, classic, cartoon archive.

In the past few weeks, we’ve had lots of astronomical talk. What with the Space Shuttle Discovery’s latest mission and the low moon we witnessed a few days ago.

Therefore, I felt the cartoon above was quite apt!

Enjoy,

ROLFE

Superfogeys, so long and thanks for the all lycra!

Afternoon,

Alas, Brock Heasley has decided to put down his pen on the long running and very popular web comic, Superfogeys!

But, only to have it whipped out, deftly, from underneath him by that web comic cartooning machine, Marc Lapierre.

Yes, that Marc Lapierre. The brilliant creator behind both, “Boxcar Astronaut” and “Spooky Doofus” web comics.

For the forseebale future Marc will be handling art and Brock will concentrate on writing the scripts.

Marc is a star and dare I say it – a friend of the “Mighty Monocle” web comic? He’s also been very generous and helped me out with lots of advice.

I wish him all the best with his new project. And, I’m sure he’ll be instrumental in making it an even bigger success that it already has been.

Here is a link:

and a little teaser poster… and I can’t wait to see what Marc does with the comic.

Fan Art Friday!

by admin on March 18th, 2011

Morning,

Last week, I published a blog post entitled ‘You sketch my character, and I’ll sketch yours!” It was never intended as a shout out to my readers for fan art.

It was simply me trying to be witty and clever with a blog title. Sometimes I can try too hard to be witty and clever.

Well, fast-forward a few days and I discover my inbox is practically busting with fan art!

To be honest, it had never even crossed my mind that the webcomic would have such hardcore ‘fans’ yet! Heck, I ain’t complaining and on reflection, I’m so glad it turned out this way.

So, what to do with all this art?

Well, only go and start a regular Mighty Monocle “Fan Art Friday” blog post!

This week’s fantastic fan art is from…

Tom Dell’Aringa creator of the fantastic webcomic ‘Marooned – A Space Opera in the Wrong Key’.

“Marooned is kind of like Gilligan’s Island on Mars. With Captain John and his robot Asimov, constantly trying to find a way home, while dealing with the locals (Martians) and having all sorts of adventures”.

Please DO click on the link above and check out Tom’s webcomic. But as you’re here already, why not read the latest ‘Mighty Monocle’ strip first!

Many thanks,

ROLFE

p.s. I will be doing this every Friday until I run out of Fan Art. So if you feel the urge to send in some fan art, please do!

Fan Art

Wow, only two weeks in and today I got my first (hopefully more will follow) piece of fan art!

This brilliant interpretation of the “Mighty Monocle” was drawn by none other than, Denver Brubaker.

Denver Brubaker is the creator of the bloomin’ marvellous “Tales of a Checkered Man” web comic.

Here’s a link to his web comic, which I can’t recommend highly enough.

www.thecheckeredman.com

Denver has been blogging, tweeting, commenting and generally bigging up the “Mighty Monocle” all over the interwebs.

If you feel the urge to get creative and send a piece of fan art in, please do!

I’d love to see it!
